Ionic  liquid  was  easily  separated  from  the  solid  products  when  it  was  used  as  a   catalyst  in  the  glycolysis  of  PET.  Recently,  it  has  been reported that  ionic  liquids  were  used  as  solvent  and  catalyst  in  the  depolymerization of  PET.
